2009.02.08: Australia is taking its fair share of extreme weather, with pretty much half the country being affected by one or another natural disaster this week.
The bush fires in Australia's south are raging on such a scale that they turn into fire storms, which explode trees and travel kilometre after kilometre in just minutes.
Meanwhile, Queensland's northern areas have received massive amounts of rain over the last week, and well over half of the state - an area almost as big as Germany and France put together - are now declared as natural disaster areas!
Whole regions have been cut of from the rest of the country and have required supplies to be brought in by air and sea.
Some areas have received well over 300 millimetres of rain in the last day and a half. And just now, there is a king tide on the way, threatening to push floodwater back up the rivers and into the country, adding to the misery!
Hit up news.com.au for coverage of the situation, and spare a thought and a prayer for all those who have lost loved ones and for the thousands who are having their lives turned upside down at the moment!
2009.01.18: In just 36 hours, Maria and I leave Norway... Having spent about one year here, we have decided to return to Australia and Brisbane again!
This time, the adventure simply involves getting back to Brisbane in one piece each. Or in Maria's case, two pieces... She's carrying with her our yet-to-be-born son!
There may well be more posts on koalaplanet.org over the next few days, weeks and months!

We're kicking off our adventure with six weeks in Japan before arriving in Norway around 19 March to settle there.
There may not be many more posts to Koalaplanet in the future, but we'll keep everyone updated in a new weblog - to be announced!
Thanks to those of you who have been following Koalaplanet through the years... It's been fun, and we'll be back! :o)
